Lone Star Labradoodles is co-owned by sisters and Texans Kelly Bigham of Port Neches and Lanie Smith of The Woodlands. Avid animal lovers, they have always had at least two or three dogs in their family in addition to their kids and cats.

Lanie got her first Australian Labradoodle Matilda, ("Matti") from Rutland Manor after the passing of Molly, her beloved Airedale Terrier. Lanie's mother first saw this amazing breed on television. Once Lanie researched them and saw pictures, she knew this was the breed for her.

Matti is a beautiful red female standard labradoodle and was purchased as a pet, not for breeding. She was well worth Lanie's months-long wait. In fact, she's the reason Lone Star Labradoodles was born.

Her entire dog-loving family fell in love with Matti; and at Kelly's urging, she and Lanie imported breeding dogs from Australia. Their first breeding pair arrived in Houston from Rutland Manor on March 16, 2005, and their second pair arrived later that spring.

Rutlands Moxie, Rutlands Dippa, Rutlands Lil Misty and Rutlands Felton were the beginning of something beautiful in Texas; and the breeding dogs you see on our website now are the future.

Lone Star Labradoodles' goal is to provide families with healthy, multigenerational labradoodles with low to non-shedding, hypoallergenic coats. After months of research, it became readily apparent that all labradoodles are not created equal. Great variation exists in coat texture and quality and shedding/non-shedding attributes.

Because of this, Lone Star Labradoodles acquires only multigenerational breeding stock directly from Australia's famous Rutland Manor and Tegan Park and from American breeders who are of like mind. Only by doing so can families like yours be assured of getting a puppy possessing all of the qualities and attributes which make this breed so unique and desirable.
